After completing the post-apocalyptic action RPG Fallout: New Vegas , players may realize they aren't quite done with the game, even as the credits roll. The game is widely considered by fans to be one of, if not the, best in the series thanks to the writing and storytelling. Unfortunately, New Vegas does not have much in terms of post-game content, and once the players reach the point of no return and determine the fate of the Mojave Wasteland, their adventure comes to an end. That doesn't mean there isn't anything to do following completion of the game, however.

Fallout: New Vegas has several DLC for players to download and experience, and there are workarounds for players who know they want to explore and experience everything the game has to offer. Players can choose to either continue their current save file by loading a save prior to the point of no return, or they may wish to start a new game experience entirely once the credits roll. Either way, these are five of the best things a player can do once they beat Fallout: New Vegas.

Install Mods

Players can experience the game again in a new way using mods. There are many mods still being created and updated for New Vegas in 2020. Some of the mods fans seem to love most include: FNV 4GB Patcher, which makes the game 4GB aware; More Perks, which adds more than 120 new perks and traits to the game for unique character creation; Fallout - New California, which adds a new, fully-voiced prequel campaign; and A World of Pain, which introduces new 170 locations across the Mojave Wasteland with difficult enemies, new quests, and unique loot. Players can use mods to customize their game experience.

Load a Previous Save and Complete Side Quests

If players pass the point of no return before completing all the side quests they wanted to, they can reload a previous save once they finish the game and go back to any areas they might have missed. This is especially helpful for completionist players and those who have not yet finished exploring.

Most importantly, the player should try to complete the Companion quests if they have not done so by the end of the game. These quests contain some of the best story elements and reveal more about the player's companions.

Start a New Game and Make Different Choices

There are many different options in New Vegas,and a player's decisions hold the utmost importance to the fate of the Mojave Wasteland. In particular, there are four possible endings to the game. If players are looking to experience them all, they can begin the game again and make new choices to receive a different one.

Players can also design and play as a new hero with a different combat style with each new game to see the story from a new point of view. If the hero was a sniper, it may be time to try making them a melee fighter or have them use only hand-to-hand combat. This is also a good way to try out new perks and gear and roleplay a different story.

Play the DLC

There are six DLC options for New Vegas, and players with all of them will ultimately raise their level cap and have more to do prior to the endgame. The DLC are

  • Honest Hearts
  • Old World Blues
  • Lonesome Road
  • Gun Runners' Arsenal
  • Courier's Stash

Players have two options for the DLC. They can make a point to play through them in the middle of the main story, or they can finish the game, reload a save prior to the point of no return, and complete them prior to redoing the endgame. The Gun Runners' Arsenal and Courier's Stash DLC contain mostly items and unique equipment and can be used throughout the game.

Play the Next Games in the Series

After completing New Vegas, players can also jump right in with F allout 4, or Fallout 76. Both will tell different stories but allow the player to continue to explore the universe in the meantime.
